It's only the first month of 2013 and we are in high gear around here! If this is the pace of what is normally a quiet month at Guru, we are in for one heckuva year. Here are some highlights that have happened in the past two weeks of 2013.
Welcome back!
Our current crop of students are back! 21 illustrators and 5 digital designers have returned from a restful 2 weeks off and are charged up. The cool part? The illustrators returned to find a room full of new electrical wiring and computers + Cintiqs! They have leapt into using Photoshop with vigor. // more
Guru Core Digital Design Instructor Jeremy Pudlowski shares his thoughts on Design Fundamentals and a recent project-in-process from one of his students.
ARTica at Victoria School of the Arts in downtown Edmonton was an evening of hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, loud music and projections of photos, animations, and video all over the inner courtyard of the school. Guru was pleased to be able to help the Visual Arts team at Vic to coordinate the projections along with the overall feel of the event. Guru's Lee Nielsen and Josh Holinaty brought a couple of the Cintiq tablets from the school and hosted "digital drawing" stations through the evening.

At Guru, we love to explore all the aspects of a topic. One of the great things about our Digital Illustration program is that our students play with real paint as well as virtual paint. REAL PAINT! There is something powerful when learning to use digital tools that are based on real world concepts by using those real world things. // more
